Ms Janet Caruana
Heart Failure Nurse
Janet Caruana has been working as a nurse since 1989 and started to work in Cardiology in 1999 after spending the first few years of her career in a Neurosurgical Unit. She has been a Deputy Charge Nurse for the last ten years.
Janet was involved in the setting up of the Heart Failure Clinic in 2008. Her role involves seeing patients to:
- Up titrate recommended anti-heart failure treatments according to the 2016 ESC guidelines. This involves carrying out the required appropriate investigations, monitoring as well as discussion with doctors and consultants.
- Try to prevent frequent hospitalizations through frequent visits and follow ups at an outpatients department.
Janet and all the team at The Heart failure clinic also offer patient education and a support line which is available during the Clinic’s opening hours.
