Bernard Coleiro is a Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist as well as a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta. Shortly after being elected a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of UK in 1993 he began his period of specialisation in the field of Rheumatology, initially at St Luke’s Hospital and later at the Royal Free Hospital in London. It was here that he developed a special interest in Systemic Sclerosis and Raynaud’s Phenomenon. He carried out research on the use of Fluoxetine for the treatment of Raynaud’s Phenomenon, the results of which were published in the journal Rheumatology.

Dr Coleiro co-represents Malta as one of the centres of EUSTAR, an international organisation that collects and shares data on patients suffering from Systemic Sclerosis. He also runs a specialised Scleroderma Clinic at Mater Dei Hospital  where patients with this condition are monitored on a regular basis.
