Dr Gatt qualified as a Clinical Haematologist in 2005 after training in various hospitals in South London, UK. He has obtained a research MD at the University of Sheffield, UK under the mentorship of Professor Michael Makris. His research was on novel tests in coagulation. Dr Gatt was then appointed Consultant Haematologist at the Royal Free Hospital, Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre, London UK. Here he continued to gain experience in complex cases of bleeding and thrombosis. Subsequently he took up a post of Consultant Haematologist and Clinical Lead in Coagulation Medicine. He is Head of Department of Pathology within the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Malta and has a strong commitment and interest in teaching. He has supervised various students’ research projects on various haematological disorders including Myeloproliferative Neoplasms.
