Lead consultant Respiratory Physician at Mater Dei Hospital, Head of Department of Medicine and Deputy Dean of the Malta Medical school
Professor Stephen Montefort qualified MD at the University of Malta in 1984 with distinction in Medicine, Surgery and Obs & Gynae. He then won a Chevening scholarship to study at the Hammersmith Hospital in London. In 1990 he won a Commonwealth scholarship and read for a PhD on the immunopathophysiology of asthma under the mentorship of Prof Stephen Holgate at the University of Southampton. He is now the Lead consultant Respiratory Physician at Mater Dei Hospital and has been Head of Dept of Medicine and Deputy Dean of our Medical school since 2012. For the last four years he has been the Federation Lead for Malta for the Royal Colleges of Physicians UK having attained and still organizing and hosting the clinical exam for the MRCP in Malta.
