Mind your health – Childhood Anxiety and Depression
This session outlines the difference between ‘situational dysphoria’ and a depressive disorder, discussing which young people could be safely treated by their GP and when it is best to refer to CYPS. The management of depression including medication, psychological therapies and social interventions is also explained as well as the most common anxiety disorders that emerge in children and adolescents and how to manage these using a biopsychosocial approach.
