Neville Azzopardi obtained his medical degree from the University of Malta in 2005, following which he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2009. His dissertation entitled “Osteoporosis and Osteopenia in Crohn’s disease patients expressing the ATG16L1 gene variants” earned him a Masters in Philosophy through the University of Malta in 2016. During his training in gastroenterology, he spent a year at the Istituto Mediterraneo per I Trapianti e Terapie ad Alta Specializzazione (ISMETT), in Italy. He now practices as a consultant gastroenterologist at Mater dei Hospital, with a special interest in endoscopic ultrasound and pancreatic pathology.
